tl;dr: The United States Postal Service is going broke. In an attempt to save it, First Class mail will no longer have a chance of getting to the addressee within 1 business day, and instead it will be the standard 2-3 most of us experience. More than half of mail processing centers will close, and this could further slow delivery to rural areas, as well as putting many employees out of a job.

This PDF has a list of all processing center scheduled to close: http://about.usps.com/news/electronic-press-kits/our-future-network/study-list-110915.pdf

No. Not just no, but -hell no.- It won't accomplish anything it intends to, and will cripple the average internet user.

I posted my thoughts a little earlier today. See them here.

PROTECT IP Act Breaks The Internet from Fight for the Future on Vimeo.

The US is poised to fast track a bill that will basically do nothing in what it claims to do (stop e-piracy), and will undermine the entire structure of the internet, not only causing severe problems for the average US internet user, but users around the world.

"Oh, man, what kind of problems could be that severe? lol"

Sites like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Blogger, LiveJournal, Tumblr and others will be forced to censor their users, as they will be held responsible for user content. Social media has been the driving force behind regime changes throughout the world, and governments have moved to block its use during those times of rebellion, knowing the impact it has. Things move fast now, with social media.

For an example: When there was an earthquake on the East Coast earlier this year, I actually saw a Twitter update posted seconds before I felt it. I had gone to Twitter first once the house started wobbling becasue I wanted to make sure I wasn't feeling things. I have gotten news and weather updates over Twitter.

How many of you walk into a store to apply for a job, and are told "Go apply online." If this bill passes, it has the potential to destroy the stability and security of the global DNS. Do you want all that sensitive, private information you put on an application out for the next random identity thief, even easier to access since the government broke it?

And again, it won't stop the piracy the entertainment industry is claiming hurts them so badly. Seriously guys? There are performers that have been discovered online, singing copyrighted songs, and they're superstars. This bill will cripple creativity. Why do people cover copyrighted songs on TV shows? Because people know those songs, and how they should sound, and hearing someone else's take on them and the flare that that person adds has much more impact than having each contestant write a song a week. The cover is a measuring stick. Haven't these people seen how much more diverse music is?

I could go on forever. I have videos on YouTube of my dogs, and these are "accidentally infringing" on someone's copyrights, because their TV shows are playing in the background, and you can kinda hear it. This bill would mean those videos could get me put in jail for 5 years. Video of my DOGS.

How stupid is that?

Some concern has been raised about people feeling bad about all the work I put into these little things, and the low prices I am charging.

First and foremost: I LOVE doing these. When I no longer enjoy it, I'll finish any commissions I have, and stop drawing them.

That said... Yeah, I am severely undercharging for them.

So I shall do two things, to be effective in January most likely.

1) Raising prices for custom Ponies. I don't want to, but I kinda -have- to, considering the time it takes me. You want something unique? It will cost more (see below).

2) Adding template Ponies to the list, and only doing certain things that way. Walk/trot/run? Template, once I have them drawn, unless the commissioner is REALLY willing to pay extra. I'm going to be raising the static price by at least $2, possibly just doubling it, and animated will be another $2 minimum unless it is really super simple, where there won't be an extra charge. Template Ponies will not cost what custom Ponies do, probably staying in the $4-6 range, but the only customization options will be like unicorn or pegasus, a few mane and tail types, and different horn types, and possibly leg fluff.

Animating crazy manes, tails, and markings takes me for-freaking-ever, and I'm already spending 4-5 hours on many of these. Hell, I spent over 5 hours on the one run cycle I've completed's LINES alone, which does not include coloring everything and telling Photoshop to stop being a twat and moving my lines.

I am a single person. I love what I do with these. But as bad as I feel for raising the prices, I do realize that I -need- to. It's not even a matter of speed. I am incredibly detail-orientated with these icons, because I have to be. Stray pixels are extremely obvious, and I still miss some.

It's just time for me to make a little more of what my time is worth.

(My hour art rate is $35/hour, slightly less than my grooming rate of $20-25/hour for personal customers. Do that math. :D)

Gmail has had labels for a long time... and they weren't exactly helpful in the beginning. But things have changed.

You can actually move conversations into a folder now, like most email services have been doing for the past 10 years (*waves to Yahoo*) or if you're a forgetful shit like me, you can just label them and leave them in your inbox. This is what I see when I click on my "Commissions" label:

Big pic under here )

I use labels a LOT, especially for anything relating to commissions. And I color-code them.

To color a label, click on the white box to the right of it and you'll get a bunch of options.

This is what the list looks like... And the sub-folders/labels list can be collapsed
Commissions
- Completed
- In Progress - Paid
- In Progress - Unpaid
- My Orders - Completed
- My Orders - Paid

If you want to just see what's under a label, click on it and it will search by that label.

I also have labels for PetEdge and VistaPrint, so I can see what I should be expecting and to keep track of order numbers.

(As I'm making this public, I'm going to not name names. But my friends know who I'm talking about... Comments screened.)

This one could go two ways...

The biggest bully in my life was my former step-father. At school I had to deal with bullying from my peers and teachers, then I had to come home and deal with this... waste of flesh mentally and verbally abusing me and my mother. And treating my dogs like shit. I firmly remember one incident after we moved to our home out in the county, and the dogs wandering off into the cow pasture behind us. They eventually come back with me calling to them, but it didn't matter to my step-father, and he tried to shoot one of the dogs with a bb gun... While I was holding the dog. I heard the bb hit the fence post behind me.

Thankfully, he is gone, but 13 years of abuse at home isn't easy to forget or get over.

The other person is more recent... And it was much more subtle, for a time. The bully was my best friend of nearly 12 years. Our relationship didn't start off well, and it started with a lie. She lied about who she was. She lied about what was happening to her. I don't know, even to this day, what was truth and what was just one more lie. The only truth I could get was from her friends. Over the years, the lies she first told before we ever became friends, grew and grew, and finally all came to a head in March of 2005 when her lies were very publicly exposed. We stopped talking for a while after that, and that was when I first realized what kind of person she was. We eventually started talking again, and things would be fine, then I'd catch her lying, or she's get pissed over how I was living my life, and it'd turn into her trying to push me into living her way, but I'd had it with mental abuse, and so I'd stop talking to her.

We had some pretty epic arguments over the years.

This all finally ended in February of this year, when my fiance and I were again lied to, after driving to Atlanta for a convention, had nearly $100 stolen from us, and left to drive back home with the tiny bit of money we had left. We were lied to about the cost of the room, lied to about how many people could be in there, we were "conveniently" not told about other charges, and I didn't get to sell art at the convention since we no longer had money for a room, so I couldn't even remotely recoup some of my costs. I have still not fully recovered, financially, from all this. Emotionally, I don't know if I ever will.

My bullies have been mentally abusive. Even in school. And those have pushed me to being physically violent at times. I'm probably no better than them. :/

Just what it says, which are your favorite/most liked MLP: FIM characters that are NOT part of the Mane 6? This means no Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, or Pinkie Pie answers, even though I shouldn't have to say that. :p)

Well, I'm one of the folk here on the East Coast, preparing to hunker down and deal with Irene. I'm northwest of Philadelphia, and I have this feeling that what we will see of Irene here will be about what I saw of hurricane Erin when she rolled across the Florida peninsula in the '95. Which means I will (hopefully) be bored out of my skull, sitting in the dark, and only have my phone to entertain me.

I got to thinking "What's fairly easy to draw by candlelight if the power goes out?" and I came up with Ponies.

snopony-lns

For my Hurricane Sale, which will last for the next 7-10 days, I'm offering the following:
Pony Sketch: $1.50
Pony Inked (on paper, black or other solid color lines(ask for colors)): $2
Multi-Colored Ink Lines: $3
Flat Digital Color: (like above!) $4

All prices are per-Pony. I will not be shipping these by default, so if you want the original shipped, I would ask for a bit more to send them. The paper I will be working on is about 4x6. The above Pony is about 4 inches across, your Pony will be orientated more intelligently, depending on her pose.

If my power is out for an extended period, or whenever I happen to finish your sketch, I will email you a picture from my phone. Once you see the sketch, I will request full payment. And in the event I'm without power for more than a day, I'll go find a working outlet so I can work off my laptop.

Once it's finished, I'll get your approval, and if everything is okay, I'll email you a size no longer than 500px on one side, with a small watermark, suitable for re-posting online, and a non-watermarked size you can print out. :3

Addition to original post:
These are not only for the G4 style! I can go G1 as well, though the line work wouldn't be as heavy. :3

And, like the icon, I can do PixelPonies! (See also examples 1, 2, and 3. These are also on sale! Normally $3, on sale for $2. They are kept within a 100x100 file size.

They will not be templates! The user icons, and the other two ponies are from a much older set I no longer have files for. All PixelPonies will be from scratch. :3 A scaled down, watermarked preview will be sent for approval, and if everything is in place, then payment will be requested. Upon receipt of payment, an non-watermarked, non-scaled version will be emailed to you as soon as possible.

Comment here, or send an email to damantru @ gmail . com (just remove the spaces). Links to my various art galleries can be found on my website, some more neglected than others. >_>

Here's hoping it's not a bad as they're predicting! Good luck, and stay safe to everyone on the East Coast!
